Woman’ Scream 2012 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa

The 16 March 2012, In Mount Croix, at 19h00 hours in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, the Women’ Scream International Poetry Festival 2012 event was heard. The activity included poetry readings from Linda Ann Strang, coordinator of the event hosted by Women Poets International in the Dominican Republic.

It also counted with the poetry of: Almareth du Preez, Lindl du Preez, Barbara Kritzinger and Lestie Hughes. Lestie, also played the flute and local celebrity Faye Gatley performed some of her self-composed songs.


Lawyer and human rights activist Leah Ndiwurimo gave a talk on the violence that women suffer in wartime in Africa. After the performances, the women attending shared some of their very own experiences on the subjects which created a great group dynamic.

Linda, thanked the local businesswoman, Kim Imrie for kindly providing her place for the event to be celebrated. Once more, poetry proves there are no boundaries for ours voices to be heard.
